The Target of Tourists Can Be Achieved

Although experiencing global economic crisis, Indonesia is optimistic to achieve the target of Visit Indonesia through promotion of tourism in Malaysia Travel Fair 2009 [Matta Fair], which is held in Kualalumpur Malaysia, Friday-Sunday [13- 15/3]. As said by Deputy Director of Promotion for ASEAN, Chrismiastutie, after the opening of Matta Fair, that Indonesia is optimistic to achieve 6.5 million  target visitors for year 2009, while the achieved moderate target in 2008 is 6.5 million visitors or equivalent to USD 70 million for government revenue.  She is also optimistic that Malaysian tourists who come to Bandung will also increase.

It will be supported by the increase of flight frequencies of Air Asia from Kualalumpur to Bandung from twice to three times in a week. She also convince that Bandung can be one of the international tourist destination such Bali. This will be happened if all infrastructures for tourism industry including the airport has to be optimally improved in qualities.

Meanwhile, The Country Manager Visit Indonesia Tourism Office, Aki Yusuf, mentioned that the tourist who visit Bandung will increase if the airport of Husein Sastranegara has been enhanced and expanded. The improved condition of the airport may allow wide-body aircrafts such as Airbus from any airline to land and take visitors to Bandung. He said the enhancement and expansion of airport must be supported by the extension of many facilities and attractive management for tourist. It has to be elaborated by government together with tourism people. According to Mr. Aki, in Matta Fair 2009, booth of Indonesia is bigger than booth of Indonesia in years before. In 2009, Indonesia opens 20 booths from all over province while there are only 10 to 12 booths opened in previous years.  He mentions that due to Visit Indonesia Year, the ministry of culture and tourism of Indonesia Republic is more aggressive to offer the main products to the buyers.
